Sackville-West wrote Grand Canyon in the midst of the Second World War. Here she imagines a future where the Axis defeat Britain. Two strangers staying at the Grand Canyon Hotel in Arizona meet and share their memories of the country that has now been lost. As The Guardian said, this is a “startling piece of speculative fiction” - speculative in the most literal sense of the word.
