Putting Myself in the Picture by Jo Spence

Putting Myself in the Picture by Jo Spence

£70.00

A photographic memoir, tackling topics such as class, sexual stereotypes, and the female gaze. Spence took a politicised approach towards documentary photography in the 1970s, displaying feminist and socialist themes throughout her career. She is known for her vulnerable yet powerful self-portraits about her own fight with breast cancer, in which she shows the various stages of her breast cancer and rejects the idea of a perfect female body.

London: Camden Press, 1986. First edition. Inscribed by the author, who died shortly after, on the front endpaper, dated 1992. 219 pages. 23 x 17 x 2. Paperback. Very good condition.
