Originally published in 1932, Little House in the Big Woods is the first in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic childrens’ series. It was her first book and inspired by her own memories of her childhood in Wisconsin during the homesteading years of the American Midwest. The series has been read by children for nearly a century now, are beloved and somewhat controversial, both praised and criticized for their portrayal of Native Americans. They have never been out of print and have been translated into over 40 languages.
